I'm sure I've come across this before... any ideas? We're still on Quark 6.5 and we need to be able to put some extra text into the header line when printing with registration marks.

Like '1st Artwork Proof' or something. We don't want to change the file name every time as this will be confusing and lead to all sorts of trouble. But the customers are having trouble working out which proof is which!

Emma, there's also Gluon's Slugger XT, which I don't use, but know about.

Thanks Erik - I think they'll baulk at paying out money when we can use the free one. Must admit I found Output Enhancement pretty mystifying, and will have to read the manual... but today I seem to be InDesigning.

Emma, there were a couple posts a while back on some issues with Output Enhancements. Of course, with the loss of the DB a while back they have been wiped out. If I remember correctly it had to do with file naming and print styles. I think larsen67 was one of the users reporting the problem. Just bringing it up, just in case your process starts to rely on this XT.

Thanks Erik, I'm warned! It's only one customer and so far I'm just advising on best way forward, so I'll do some testing.

Unless i'm missing something, I just add a text box that overlaps the page in the bleed area and make sure i print with bleed.

You have to manually change the number in the text box but that doesn't bother me. I have done very detailed job slugs for some clients this way. I did purchase Job Slug Pro quite some time back but haven't bothered to update it. I have a lot more essential extensions to put my money into.
