LZW Import Xtension For QuarkXpress 6.5

    Hi,

If we cropped the greyscale tiff image in Quarkxpress 6.5, then printed as Postscript, it automatically converts 8-bit image to 1-bit. The same image is printed through the quark 4 or 5, it prints correctly without any problem.

When we are analyzing came to know that the xtension called LZW Import is used in quark 4 and 5. But the same xtension not found for quark 6.5. So we conclude that this is problem here.

So, if anybody having the copy of this xtension, or know where to get this......

    Any help greatly appreciated.......

    Thanks,
    thajudeen

    CompressedImage Import.xnt

It's part of a standard QuarkXPress 6.x install. So someone has removed it from your XTensions folder either by physically removing it or deactivating it with Xtensions Manager.

Look for it using XTensions Manager. If it's disabled, activate it. If it's not there look for it in your QuarkXPress applications folder.

If you still cant find it, then it will be on an install disk.

Re: LZW Import Xtension For QuarkXpress 6.5

Hi, I'm currently browsing the forums coz I'm having the same problem in importing tagged image formats. The error I'm getting is "This file requires Xtension software to be read properly (#180, 0). [180]" I tried to check if I have the XNT: CompressedImage Import.xnt in my extensions and yes it is present there, yet I still encounter the same problem. And, I also tried to reopen the image in Photoshop but files can't be opened. I am having a thought that my images are corrupted. (It's possible right?) Can you help me with this one? Thank you! nicee

It's certainly possible to have a corrupt TIFF. It happens far more with JPG, but it can happen with TIFF. Are you sure your images are tiffs?

Not to insult you, but sometimes people mislable things. I've had people send me jpgs (labeled as such becuse they were told we only accept jpgs for our editorial photos) when they were actually BMP or WMF. Just asking.

Hello, I solved it already, my mistake (lol). Those images I've mentioned were compressed and in order to use them properly is to expand them. I should have tried to expand them before seeking for your thoughts. Thank you though. Thank you!

    Re: Filled Frame in Quark

Hi I have another problem with my quark file, actually this is not a big problem, I just want to know if there are another way in removing the unwanted fills in frames. The scenario is, whenever we create PDF and runs a script to make the necessary adjustments (trim size and registration marks), an unwanted color/object were being introduced and we can only check it when we print the document. So, what I did as an initial investigation on where and how this problem occurs is I got back to the Quark file and I found out that the frames (picture box) used has a fill with 0% shading (as far as I can remember, frames in Quark should not be filled because it affects the printer results). So, I removed the fill and tried to do the same process and as expected those unwanted color/objects were gone. Now, my question is, Are there other ways in removing the fills? (Our quark documents are supplied by client and we have no idea on where and how many frames are being filled). We will have a hard time if we remove it one by one. Thank you!
