    Export to PDF in QX5?

I'm still using 4.1 but another person in my company is using 5 and wants to export to a PDF and get the same quality I get via Distiller using the PDF Filter Xtension. But I can't see how to make a PDF in 5. There is no mention of PDF is the manual. Tell me how, please.

    File>Export>PDF.

It is still the pdfxtension and it also still requires distiller. They just played musical chairs with the command.

When I say it's not an option I mean it's not an option in 5, at least not as Q5 is running on my co-worker's machine. There is a greyed-out HTML option. Maybe it's time for a re-install?

Since you do not see the PDF option under File>Export, there is a possibility that the 'PDF Filter' might have been disabled................Check the XTensions Manager.
If it is not there, just do a custom reinstall for the filter and you will get the option.

Do not forget to check the PDF preferences after the install. :)

OK. We found the CD-based PDF Filter and installed it and can now BEGIN to export to PDF. Now another hurdle. Despite Distiller PPDs in the Quark PPD folder and in the System Extensions folder, Quark says that no distiller PPD is available.

You should be able to see Acrobat Distiller listed in System Folder>Extensions>Printer Descriptions.
If not, you will find it in the Adobe Acrobat>Distiller>Xtras folder. Drag it to the printer descriptions folder, restart the computer.
Do update the PPD's in Quark using the PPD Manager (even if the distiller PPD was in the right location).

    dmrsunz:
Quark says that no distiller PPD is available.

Go under Edit > Preferences > Preferences (again) > PDF > in the "Default Setting" section, select "Options" > Output > Printer Descriptions

Once you're in Printer Descriptions, select your Postscript Printer, adjust the "Color Output" section as you wish, and click OK.
