Export PDF gives "Postscript driver has not responded f

    Running G5 dual 1.8 with 3 gigs ram OS X 10.4.11 Quark 6.52

All of a sudden I cannot export files and in some cases can't even print files to my imagesetter or laser printer out of Quark. Most are very simple files and files I have printed several times before. I have tried multiple documents, with no avail.

I always get the "Postscript driver has not responded for 60 seconds" error.

I did everything I could think of.. created a new postscript printer, repaired permissions, trashed the Quark prefs, Trashed the JAWS folder, but nothing has worked.

Finally I did a complete re-install and update of Quark 6.52, but still have the exact same problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I use the export pdf command very often to create quick PDFs and to test seps before outputting.

Very frustrating, especially since it just came on all of a sudden and don't think I have installed any new fonts, or apps for several weeks.

    Thanks for any help.

I was having the same exact problem the last few days and came to the forum to see if it was a known problem. I checked a post that said to make sure you have Courier installed. I realized I trashed that font last week, not knowing it would cause such a problem. Sure enough, I just reinstalled it and can make a PDF again.

    thank you!

THANKS VERY MUCH. That worked perfectly. (now I am wondering how courier got removed Smile ).

I checked several posts and never saw that, but it makes sense it would need courier, since it is used in the page information. I assumed it was a font issue, but have not added or removed any fonts in a few weeks.

    huge help, thanks again.

I had the same problem today, however it was not do to the fact that I was missing courier. It was caused by a free font that I downloaded called blueprint. It was a TTF. Once I quite all my open apps, trashed that font, restarted the apps, all was well again. I am always hesitant to add fonts especially ones not purchased from a reputable company or I do not even like to add fonts from a PC onto my Mac. This time I didn't and the unpleasantness of not being able to make a PDF was a good reminder for me why. (I figured I would post this at the off chance it has happened to someone else and may help them out). Paul Wilson Wilson Design
