    Quark 6 & HTML

    Hello.

I'm hoping someone can answer this quick question for me. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to open an existing Quark document (say a v.4 or v.5 document) in v.6 and convert that document into HTML.

The best I can tell is that if you want an HTML document out of Quark 6 you must create a new "Web Layout" type document and start from scratch but I I'm not sure if this is the only way.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Okay, so I found out that you can switch a "print" document to a "web" document. However, after exporting that "web" document to HTML and viewing in a browser, there is no option to move to the next page.

If you have a, let's say, 7 page "web" document and you then export that to HTML, how do you navigate from one page to the next when viewing in a browser?

    Thanks!

*sigh* You are in desperate need of a web publishing class. HTML files are independent pages. In order to navigate from one to another, you must set up links within page, there is no program in existance that does this automatically. Good luck getting that print layout to look good and function well in a browser. Please tell me you don't have columned text.

Now, now. No need to get testy.

I know that the result is not going to be pretty & clean. I don't care.

But, if I understand you correctly, Quark only intended this HTML export option to be used with single page documents? If so, that's a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

I'm not getting testy. Didn't intend to come across that way. What you need to understand, is the nature of html. It's not Quark's fault. You have to build in the navigation on a website. It does not happen automatically. Try building your page in Dreamweaver, or straight html code and you'll find the exact same issue. Navigation is not a given, you have to build it yourself. Quark gives you the tools to do this. They're very straight forward. If you don't understand any of the above, then a forum wil not give you the info you need. You really need a class on web planning, html, etc before attempting to produce web sites. They are a complex subject. And print layouts and web layouts are like apples and oranges.
