    Large file size

I build both print and Web projects using QXP. Since version 7.x I've noticed file sizes reaching huge proportions, and save times growing longer and longer. I have one Web file that is 291 Mb, and I can't figure out why.

I've done all of the font turning off and XTension disabling I can do.

My print files seem fine, but the Web ones are still huge. I do use Interactive Designer to create simple animations for many of these projects. Could that be the problem?

    Thanks!

    Hi Ron,

It's hard to say what's happening with your file sizes. The interactive elements could be the problem... but it all depends on what you are adding or changing in the layout. If the file is increasing with no additions or major changes, you should contact our technical support group because something strange is going on there. I am not aware of any current bugs which would manifest this way. Can you tell me a bit more about what you are doing in the layouts when their size increases signifigantly?

    Thanks!

This has been happening since the 6. Is there a simple guide to file size management that I can read... I regularly get file sizes that are over 200 Megs.

Yes I am also experiencing this. It takes forever to save a layout. Also the file size of the project is huge--300+ meg--but when I export as HTML to preview the site it shows a file size of just a few meg.

I think this just illustrates QuarkXPress's shortcomings as a tool to produce webpages.

I made a (fairly simple) online CV using Quark and the entire website was 600KB in size when I outputted it.

I've been learning CSS lately and managed to code the site myself. The final size? 80KB

    More here.
