upload html to live web server

I dont use Quark Im a die hard Macromedia user but my step mom is Quarks biggest fan. I have been doing most the website stuff with dreamweaver and I want to no if she can upload her html files and pictures from her end with Quark. (somthing like dreamweaver does).

    Is this posable?
If not what do you recomend her to do with the files she makes in Quark, what the best way to get her files on the server and live.

I don't know if Quark can 'talk' directly to a remote host or not, but if it can't then your Mum wants to get a simple FTP client. Depending on whether she uses a Mac or PC there are plenty available.

One the Mac I favour Captain FTP, but have also used Fetch, Transmit and Cyberduck and all are decent enough.

The PC has even more clients available. I'd suggest popping over to versiontracker.com and searching for FTP clients - the users there rate software plus it shows whether they are freeware, shareware or commercial products.

For what it's worth I use DW for my web work but never use its FTP capabilities preferring Captain FTP every time - it's just more reliable!

QuarkXPress does not currently upload files to a web host.  You will need to export your web layout from QuarkXPress and then using an FTP client upload those files to the web.  I would suggest talking to your web hosting service to see which FTP clients they recommend.

Re: upload html to live web server

I put my linked images in a public drop box folder (pretty sure that it is an ftp site?), how do I show quark where to find these files so that when I export my document into html and email it to my client (who wants to email it to masses) sees the images and color bars? All he sees is the text, on my computer it looks fine I'm sure because I also have the files on my computer. I am thinking of hiding the jpegs into another folder and when quark says they are missing I find them on the public folder, I will try this while I wait for an answer. thanks, mattie
