    Multi-Ink

Has anyone produced separations of Mult-Ink Colours succesfully?

    This is the senario:

The job is intended to print CMYK plus PANTONE 485.

The customer selected "PANTONE 485" from PANTONE Solid Coated Model and nominates it as a Spot Colour.

The customer chooses the Multi-Ink Model and makes a colour from 100% "PANTONE 485" and 20% of Black (Process Black) and calls it "SPOT+20%" (PANTONE 485 100% + Process Black 20%).

"PANTONE 485" appears in the Colour Pallete as a Spot Colour.
"SPOT+20%" appears in the Colour Pallete as a Process Colour.

    Can I separate "SPOT+20%" as 100% "PANTONE 485 and 20% Black :?:

SHEESH! I have customers that attempt this kind of nonsense from time to time too. If you're already printing CMYK, then tell them to choose a freaking process color instead. Or if the offending color is just a background, then delete it and sub 100% 485 with a 20% K overlay set to overprint. Let me guess, you've got text reversed out of it as well?

    hi

you can colorseperate it quite easily from quark.
make sure you have seperations turned on in printmenu.
be sure to check the plate setting: all proces & sppotcolors.

you should see only cmyk plus pantone485
the multi-ink will be seperated fine (in the order you have set in the multi-ink color buildup)

In Quark 4 and 5 you have to print with separations on but, in Quark 6 you can use Device N for a composite workflow.
