Text automatically pasted in as registration black?

    Hi,
I have recently encountered that when I paste text in from an email into a Quark document it shows up as registration black. Even when a style is applied to it that indicates black. In previous documents the text would be black, not registration, unless another color was indicated.

Does anyone know why this change has occurred?

Is there anyway I can change it so that when text is pasted in it uses black as a default.

    Thanks!

This happens a lot with text pasted in from Word. My solution is always to paste the stuff in to Text Edit, in plain text mode, first then copy it out of there and in to Quark. Then all styling is lost and Quark's colours etc will take properly.

Why it happens I can't recall - something to do with the way MS software auto-colours stuff I think. Any danger your email program is an MS offering?

    Greg,
    Thanks for the reply.
I will do that in the future or just find/change the colors.

My email program is not MS software.

The only thing I cannot figure out is why this is a sudden happening when I am using the same email program. I am using a newer version of Quark (7). But that shouldn't change that, right?

Hmm ... shouldn't, but obviously does. But then a lot changed with v7 so it doesn't surprise me. I've just always used my Text Edit method so never noticed your problem occurring.

And since you can't easily find/change colours in XPress I suspect using the intermediate step to strip out the formatting will be quicker. At least I don't think you can search for colours that easily - I know you can't delete the reg colour so you can't go that route!
