I am a graphic designer working with publishers running Quark 4.1. I need to reinstall Quark 4.1 which is acting up. When I tried to install 4.1 updater, the dialog box prompted me to locate the disk to upgrade. It would not recgonize my version of Quark 4.1 as upgradable. I own and have kept all Quark upgrades through Quark 6. ( I have disks for 4.1, 4.03, and 4.04) However I have not kept any software proceeding Quark 4. I can use Quark 5 and save it as a Quark4 document. However I have need to use extensions that are compatible with Quark4. Can anyone advise me how to reinstall Quark 4.1?

My G4 is configured with 3 hard drives; one runs system 10 with Quark6 and other system 10 software. Another drive runs system 9.2.2 with Quark 4.11, Quark 5 and other system 9 software.

Patricia, since you have a QuarkXPress 4.1 updater CD, you will first need to install QuarkXPress 4.03 or 4.04 and then run the updater.

I believe 4.03 and 4.04 were floppy and CD set.

Try going to the following link on the Quark website and choose 'QuarkXPress Installing' from the list you see there. You will find several notes that might prove helpful.

Thank you for your help. I had to reinstall from my earliest version. I now have 4.1 installed less some of the color options. My prior generation of 4.x was up to 4.11. I don't see a disk for this one. Do you suppose this update was downloaded from Quark? I hear they regard 4.1 as obsolete and are not supporting it. Any ideas?

I found the 4.11 patch as a download from Quark.
