After installing Quark 7 I have a corrupt component

I have just upgraded from Quark 6.5 to Quark 7. When I go to launch the application it is giving me corrupt component error and then I have to exit. Here is the status printout from the error:

Component Current Version Compatible Versions Status
    Color Manager.qrc - All 7.x Load Error[5]
    Cool Blends.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    EPS Filter.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    Flattening.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    GIF Filter.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    HTML Export.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    Hyperlinks.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    Job Jacket.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    JPEG Filter.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]
    Layers.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]

    Web Tools.qrc 7.31r0 All 7.x Active[0]

What can I do to get the "Color Manager.qrc" to load without an error?

Any help wourld be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Please run the QuarkXPress Components installer located in your Applications > QuarkXPress > For System folder. This should remedy your situation. Please let me know your results.

Okay. I am having the very same problem with the very same component. I have done as you have recommended above, and reinstalled the QuarkXpress Compnents from the "For System" folder. The Color Manager.qrc component still comes up as corrupt, and will not allow me to use my Quark 7.

Is there a way to fix, or download this component separately, and incorporate it into my install?

    Hey Stephanie!
    That worked! Woot!

I actually downloaded the full-working trial/demo version of Quark 7.3 for my Mac. The color manager component wasn't working in that free download.

I am working on a Mac G5 tower, OSX 10.4.11

Thank you so much for your prompt attention and help.

    Cheers!

    Happy to be of help,

After installing Quark 7 I have a corrupt component

I have been having this same problem. I copied the file in question from my laptop, to my desktop (which was having the problem) and everything worked fine. Now, about a month later, I'm having the same problem on my laptop, for no conceivable reason!
Nothing Quark Support has told me to do has worked, that bit they give you about running the components installer from "For System" has NEVER worked. It won't install on either my desktop or my laptop, and it never tells me why. Just says an unknown error has prevented the installation from completing. Mind you, my laptop is brand-spankin-new, and isn't cluttered with software.
I think it's terrible that Quark Support obviously doesn't know how to resolve this issue (After a week of exchanging emails with them the problem has yet to be resolved), and the Quark programmers are obviously morons because Quark is not only buggy, but it "breaks" easily.
If any normal person has found a way to really fix this and/or prevent it from happening again, please let me know.

I'm sorry to hear you are running into ongoing problems with this issue. It's hard to diagnose what's happening via the message boards so I'm having this issue escalated within our support organization and to our QA & R&D groups for analysis. As such tech support rep should be in touch with you shortly.

    Thanks!

After installing Quark 7 I have a corrupt component

I am having the identical problem to macdaddy - color manager corrupt and system components unable to install.

I have a G5 power mac with latest OSX10.5.1 and all the system & security upgrades installed.

Quark 7 has never worked with 7.2 and has never worked with 7.3.1

Looks like I bought a $900 doorstop.

Why look what's appeared on my desk..... it's an InDesign CS3 30 day try out disk....

After installing Quark 7 I have a corrupt component

This has been suggested by a Quark Tech Support guy. It did NOT work for me - but it may work for others...

    1. Go to > Mac H/D > Library > Frameworks > trash “Logosync.framework” “Xlan” “Kodak.CMS” the files in there.

    2. Go to > Mac H/D > Applications > QuarkXPress folder > for system > QuarkXPress Components > double click on there and give the location of QuarkXPress folder to install it.

    3. Now launch QuarkXPress 7.0 and see the results.

This fix DID work for me.

Big thanks to Dave at technical support.

Go to > Main H/D > Applications > trash the QuarkXPress folder.

Go to > Main H/D > Library > Preferences > trash the Quark folder.

Go to > Main H/D > Users > your user name folder > Library > Preferences > trash the Quark folder.

Now download QuarkXPress 7.3 from the link given below.

    http://www.quark.com/service/desktop/downloads/download.cfm?idx=722

After downloading it install it on your system and after installing QuarkXPress, when you will launch it will prompt you to activate it.

On that window you will have an option “Enter Activation”, select that and click activate. You will get some sets of digits on the screen, it is the installation code, which you have to sent it to us at activation2@quark.com

And we will respond back with that activation code which you will fill in the white boxes given below the installation code and click activate.

    Your QuarkXPress will be activated.

i hope the above steps should have worked for all. in case you still face the same issue, login to Root user and do a complete reinstall for QuarkXPress.

Re: After installing Quark 7 I have a corrupt component

I have solved this problem in the past by copying a co-worker's file to the correct folder. most recently when I had this issue AGAIN, I upgraded to 7.5 and that seemed to replace any missing or broken files.
