In Mac OS 9, the fonts need to go into the "/System Folder/Fonts" folder. Unfortunately, the fonts will not be available to applications that are already running, so, you need to quit QuarkXPress and re-launch it.
The better way to install fonts is to use Suitcase. You need to create a new Set in Suitcase and drag the fonts into the new Set. Then "Activate" the Set in Suitcase. The fonts should appear in the QuarkXPress menu without quitting and re-launching. Sorry, I do not remember the exact steps how to do this because it has been a while since I have used Suitcase 3.
A few notes:
- If the fonts in your email are compressed, you will need to decompress them first with Stuffit Expander before you can add them to the fonts folder or into Suitcase.
- You can only put about 128 fonts into the "/System Folder/Fonts/" folder. This is a limitation of Mac OS 9. That is why most people use Suitcase or ATM Deluxe, which can load as many fonts as you like. If you have more than 128 fonts in your Fonts Folder, when you add more fonts they will not show up in your applications.
Hope this helps.
