I just got a really annoying phone call. Some guy who said he was calling from a company like "Q & A Marketing" or some such claimed to be representing Quark. What set me off was his response after I said "Hello":
GUY: "Uh...Are you the one who does the software?"
ME: "Uh..That would depend on what kind of software. Who is this?"
GUY: "Well, Quark. XPress. Do you use Quark XPress?"
ME: "Yes."
GUY: "I'm from Q&A Marketing (or whatever it was called) and um, we're trying to get information for Quark."
ME: "Oh, okay."
GUY: "So are you... would... can you answer some questions?"
ME: "Yeah." (I'm getting exasperated at this mouthbreather by now)
GUY: (fumbling around) "Uh...hold on."
(more sounds of fumbling)
GUY: "Uh, my computer is..."
ME: "Look, call me back when you've got it together. I've got work to do."
GUY: (unintelligible, as I'm moving the receiver back into the phone cradle)
Anyone get any kind of survey call from Quark -- or someone claiming to represent them -- in the past few days? I know I had a CustServRep call a couple of months ago...she talked to my boss, too, and cajoled him to go to the dog 'n' pony show in Colorado a couple of weeks back. But this cheeseball today raised the hackles on my neck.
Oh...and thanks, Quark, for giving me no better place to post this!
