    Goobye Quark

After spending countless hours trying to deal with all of the technical issues in QXP 7.3..
    1. HUGE file sizes -I have a one page document with a 4MB tiff and a 20MB tiff along with some text and a file size of 521MB
    2. SLOW saves
    3. Unexpected quits
    4. Problems using dropshadows where underlying colors or images don't print or pdf correctly
    5. Corrupt files
    6. Can't show invisibles must reinstall font messages
    7. and MORE...
I feel that I have no choice but to use another product to get my work done. Yes-I will have to start from scratch on documents that aleady exist in QXP, but I will probably save a lot of time and aggravation in the process. I have spent thousands on QXP over the years (since QXP3). I am totally disgusted with all of the money and, mostly, the time I have wasted.

Yeah! Can I have your copy of XPress 7? You don't seem to be using it and since you're leaving you won't need it.....

    Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game.

It's players logging on to game servers over the internet to play a variety of games interactively with each other.

The biggest example I can give you is Warcraft.

    Oh I see. Thanks.

It looks more like a Massive Ranting Online Forum to me...

Personally I would welcome your clients list! ;-)

I will gladly take care of them while you realize that InDesign will not brew your coffee either.

It (InDesign) won't do coffee but it sure handles PDF's better, among other things...

FWIW, I haven't found a single thing I need that Quark can do that InDesign can't.

FWIW, If that was REALLY the case, you wouldn't be here now would you?

We are here to see if Quark has waken up yet to join the 21st century. If and when Quark adds complete support for PDF's, I for one would be more than happy to once again add it to my toolbox for design. In it's present configuration it just doesn't cut it in a modern PDF workflow.

If Quark's functionality was what it claimed to be, I wouldn't be here. I read these boards in hopes of finding new solutions, workarounds, and updates.

I suppose you're right in the sense there is one thing InDesign can't do, and that's make my Quark customers switch to it. But that IS happening in increasing numbers, and I have *never* met anyone who's gone the other way.

***FWIW, I haven't found a single thing I need that Quark can do that InDesign can't.***

With AI CS3 and the way it handles items on the pasteboard, I had to enlarge pasteboard in Illustrator to get bleed with ID, in quark just had to draw a picture box.

I use whatever my client's send me. I still get more Quark files than InDesign files. So, I wouldn't pop the champagne corks over InDesign capturing the market just yet.

JJ I'm seeing just the opposite here, Quark was the mainstay and up till a year ago I was getting about 60% Quark, but I'm getting about 90% InDesign now. It may have to do with location or perhaps frustration.
