    Oxford spelling dictionary

US spelling writes "color, center, civilize".

British spelling writes "colour, centre, civilise".

But Oxford spelling (and Canadian spelling) writes "colour, centre, civilize".

I use Oxford spelling (as does ISO and many international organizations) and would very much like to have Quark support this. Text can be tagged "en_GB-oed".

    Currently, no.
QuarkXPress uses an American English dictionary when text is set to US English and a British English dictionary when text is set to the International English option (available in Passport, International English, or Canadian Edition versions of the software).

You bring up a good point. We will need to consider how to better represent the British/International options in a future release.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Would 'plug-in' dictionaries be an option? Low cost add-on dictionaries available above and beyond the packaged ones would be handy as those that need them could have them, but those who don't wouldn't be paying for stuff they don't need.

PS when are you going to remove (or make user selectable) the damn fool uncapitalised first sentance thing in the spell checker?

Thank you! VERY much! Another thing: I need an Irish (Gaelic) spell-checker a lot. There are wordlists out there... but there's no way to convert these to a Quark dictionary. In multilingual Europe, we really need this support.

No progress has been made on this since July 2008?
