    Vertical alignment in text boxes

I think it would be beneficial to be able to have center and justified alignment in all text box shapes, not just square. Also, it would be great if text could still be vertically aligned when it's running around another box.

You can have centered and justified alignment in any text box. Make a circle text box hit centered alignment in the measurement palette, Voila! Or have I missed something?

KGrubbe, that doesn't work for me (Q7.3.1). Vertical alignment is greyed out in the 'Modify' box and on the palette.

Have you actually done this or do you just expect it to happen? Tongue Tied

    That's horizontal alignment.

I'd like to see this too -- in a text box of any shape other than rectangular, vertical alignment can only be "Top" -- so, if you need to center align text vertically (which is what the OP is talking about), you have to resort to extra returns, baseline shift, etc.

My apologies. I obviously read the post incorrectly. Yes, it would be a tremendous asset to align text vertically in ALL text boxes not just rectangular or square ones. Again, my bad.

     Using QuarkXPress 6.1:

Click to select text box(es) - hold shift for multiple
    Right-click > Modify > Text tab > Vertical Alignment Type = Centered > Apply

Only works for rectangular text boxes. Read original post more carefully!

I would LOVE to see vertical alignment in all text boxes as well! Heck, does v.8 have vertical insets on paths? (i.e. 5pt from the path instead of touching) If not, I have great need for it. ( I don't have v.8 as of yet )
    Aloha!
