    html email jumbled

Hi, I created an email advertisement in quark as a web page. I exported as html, uploaded the index.html file and images to a server, where the email was sent out. The index.html file looked perfect on my hard drive and on the server. However, once it was sent through the email system, the images in the ad were all over the place, not where I put them. I also tried making all the images one png file and putting the text over it, but the text ended up below the png when emailed. In both cases, the file looked great on my hard drive and the server. A tech person mentioned maybe being able to use legacy code or depreciated values (both foreign to me), but he is not familiar with Quark. Any suggestions? Thanks, Stephanie

Quark renders layouts with CSS.  Not all mail readers like CSS.

You may need a real web design app that allows you to design without CSS.

Alternatively you could save the entire page as a JPEG and email that, rather than a full-on HTML mailer. I've done that loads of times and frankly prefer it. HTML emails contain links to images outside of the content of the email and the process of having them loaded can be identified and traced basically validating that the email address the item was sent to is genuine, and this is a great thing for spammers! I always turn off HTML mail except from trusted sources for this reason. However an embedded JPEG is just that - an attachment - and can't be used in the same way.

I think therefore I am, you're pink therefore you're spam
