Unlock project in Express 7

    Unlock project in Express 7

    When I open a file in Express 7 that was created in Express 3.2 I get a message — The Project is locked. Changes can not be saved. (315). How do I worked around it and save the project Express 7?

    That's usually the message you get when you open a Quark file that's on a locked volume like a CD or DVD.

    Just do a "Save As", and re-name the file.

    OR, go in the finder, click on the Quark file, then go in the Finder's menus at the top: File > Get info > unclick "Lock"

    This sometimes happens to us when Quark had a problem when opening or saving a document. Somehow part of that file get stuck in memory (I think) and Quark cannot read the file to open it.

    Quitting Quark sometimes solve the problem, other times we had to reboot the whole mac.

    Troubleshootinf those get quite interesting if you are talking about Network files where multiple user have access to the same file. In this case, you have to find who has his Quark "locking" the file.

    ReneG, Your right. I was trying to open the files from a locked CD. Thanks to you both for your reply.
