Quark 7.3 PDF Bleeds & Registration Marks - Where are they?

I am using a PC with Quark 7.3.

When exporting with the Quark "Press Quality" PDF setting (with defaults for registration marks and a symmetric .125 bleed), I get NO bleed OR registration marks and the artwork is cut off about .5" on top and on the right.

This does not make sense and I cannot change any of the settings to get the correct result!

I'm not sure if that will help you, but using the File > Export is not the recommended way to create high res pdf (it's OK with document that have no or very little graphics). You should be creating pdf via the Print dialog.

Not to intrude as I don't use windows but who told you export was not the recommended way to make PDF's? I export every PDF from Quark and never had an issue. Now back to the question at hand, how can you tell that the bleeds and marks are not there? Are you placing the PDF back into Quark, or looking at it in Acrobat?

Unless, you have "Create postscript file for later Distilling" checked on, in the Preferences, you may be looking for trouble. If the Quark document is not graphic intensive, then you should be OK.

I belieive I read a Quark-released document, years ago, saying that with graphic intensive document, you should not use the internal capabilities of Quark (JAWS) to create PDF, it was better to use Adobe Distiller capabilities. I can't find that document anymore.

    Maybe somebody can chime in.
