    Troubleshoot performance issues over network

I m about to begin troubleshooting a specific issue with respect to performance over a network with multiple users. The main issue: Opening or saving a document takes a painfully long time, over a minute Compounding problem is the fact that some machines run Leopard and some run Tiger on a OSX Server. All are running QXP 7.3.1 but there is no correlation between the OS and the problem. There is also no correlation between Intel and PowerPC processors. It is not page specific as the same page will open normally on one system and not another. Documents are designed as single pages. No problem with speed when item is copied from network to desktop, opening from and saving to desktop, but that is not a desired solution as it would not be implemented on all stations. I am looking for some suggestions as to where to start. What would you be checking out and looking at? Thanks in advance.

This might not be your problem but we had some macs that took forever to save, while others could save the same file in seconds, it turned out to be the preference file for one of the extensions (deja vu in this case I think) like I say this might not be what its causing your slow downs, but may be worth checking

Thanks, I have on my list a check of the extensions in use, this will be a first target for me based on your reply. Seems like you possibly had the exact problem, that is, some macs taking along time and others dealing with the same file as normal. im almost excited for tomorrow. Are you saying you turned off this extension? Or deleted a preference relative to it ? If so, where was that preference.
