Hi All,
I was tasked with upgrading 4 studio G5 PowerPC Macs from Tiger to Leopard. I performed in place upgrades of all 4 machines without any glaring issues. And then the users started using them. So, now I am bombarded with little issue after issue which I am struggling to deal with. They use both Quark 6.5 (which I know is not officially supported with Leopard...this upgrade was not my mandate, I am just the lucky one who has to deal with it) because they say they have legacy files which don't open correctly in Quark 7.31 which they are also using. (Something to do with layers). Anyhow, the latest in a long list of issues is a particular user who says when she opens a particular file in Quark (not sure if she meant 6 or 7) the font on a particular line is all overlapped...meaning the letters are all on top of each other. She says she opens it on one of the other upgraded Macs and it looks fine. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this, where to look, where to start or if I am just chasing my tail here trying to resolve issues for things even the software developers wont support (of course I don't have the same luxury).
Sorry for the rant. If anyone can shed some light on how to troubleshoot Leopard with issues specific to designers and fonts and Leopard and Quark I would be very VERY appreciative as I am a Network not Design specialist. Oh, I should also mention that they are using Extensis Suitcase X1 for font management on their systems and I disabled the two preferences in Font Book : Auto Activation and the other one (can't remember) as per Extensis. Anyhow, i have to face them all tomorrow so please HELP!
Thanks,
Mark
