    Word graphics, broken links

Have a Word file with Excel tables linked within it. Unfortunately, the Word file has its links “broken,” so the tables are merely embedded graphics. This sort of thing happens all the time in Quark, you click on the box with the missing picture, and redirect Qrk towards the images in question. Anyone know how to do that in Word?

As far as I know, you can't do that in Word.

Once a graphic is placed in Word, it is embedded and loses it's link.

I haven't worked with the feature you're talking about, but my version of Word has a "Links..." menu item under the Edit menu. It's always grayed out, perhaps because I don't have any linked items in the text-only docs that usually come my way. But maybe it can do what what you're looking for.

As part of a software suite (MS Office), it would be surprising if Word could not maintain and update links to docs made by another member of the suite.
