    speeding things up..

are you guys developing quark to take full advantage of mult-core processors?
we need every ounce of speed and power from the app, as documents are ever increasing in size
    and length?

The application per se is not today multicore, but as a major client of the host operating system it is already getting the benefits of multicore by proxy. XPress does additionally take advantage of the underlying hardware (for instance, in certain places it does make direct use of the vector processors - Intel SSE2 and Altivec). The process of tuning and refining is never done, and all options are open. The hardware landscape is changing rapidly (GPUs, vector processing, multicore, and future crossovers such as Intel's Larrabee) and R&D make adjustments where appropriate.
