Hello,

I'm use the DEMO of quark xpress 8, and when i launch it, the app crash after a few second when i see the little window of quark (with the copyright ...) . I've not reach to launch quark correctly.

I'm posting my rapport because my crash is different by the other, in fact i think that is in relation with my font but i'm not sure 

i've testing to remove some xtensions, defete pref, ... but without results 

 

Can you help me for testing this DEMO

 Why don't you disable all user fonts & see if it launches.
Later you could start enabling them 5-10 at a time which will give you the problem font when it crashes

but i have already try this solution

i'm working with suitcase and i've disable all font and quit suitcase, there is only the system that are active in the system.

there is always the problem

Could you kindly give some information regd. your system settings. What is your system language? Which flavour of Demo have you installed. 

 the re-instal has no effect, and my G5 is a PPC 1.6 and 3 Gb SDRAM with mac OS 10.4.11

I've use the demo on the quark site, my mac is in french.

I have had a lot of problems with Quark 8 (read my posts). This morning Quark crashed at startup. Did all the things (deleted prefs, removed icc, closed fonts). but it did not come alive again. So, i made a backup of my harddisk, formatted the disk and installed a new system. After that i did a fresh install of al my programs. Now it works better than before - no problems, and i hope it keeps working. I did not install Quark 7.31 again. Perhapse 7.31 is the big Q8 killer. Have you ever seen how many files Q 7.31 install on your harddisk? There only have to be one file that may conflict with 8.

the 8 all font are in the folder but in SYSTEM folder (library->Fonts) 

And CRASH

It's not beautiful for testing this application

 I can tell you that on all my test computers, the QXP 8 eval is running fine even without those fonts. It's actually launching normally with System Fonts reduced to Apple Symbols, Courier, Geneva, Helvetica, Helvetica Neue, Keyboard, LastResort, Lucida Grande and Monaco. What makes you think the crash is related to the Asian fonts?

If I remove the 8 asian fonts, my Xpress 8.0 crash! If I replace this ones in the folder "Library – Fonts" folder startup disk (not in "System – Library – Fonts“ folder) Xpress 8.0 run... Not really reassuring: I stop testing this software...

 Working fine here too... Did you install the EA version, that might need Asian fonts...just guessing though.

I resolve my problem, in fact it was a misstake in font folder in the system folder

I take all the font what are used in a mac in 10.5 with a fresh install and i copy this folder in my G5 in 10.4

And now quark xpress 8 launch very well
