Input from numbers key pad not accepted

When I try to use the numbers pad on my keyboard (Mac), Quark doesn't accept the input in text boxes or in fileds, like the view percentage at the bottom left of a page window. Sometimes one or two of the numbers will show up. For example, I prefer to use the numbers pad to enter phone numbers, but of the 7 numbers, only a couple of them actually show up. Is this a common problem? Is there a solution?

     Thanks!

It is more than likely that you have these numbers set as Shortcuts for your style sheets. I see lots of designers that set them like this and I don't care for it any more than you do.

    hope this helps!

I know it's obvious, but we tend to forget the obvious when strange things like that happen. Have you checked all of your USB connections? Push all plugs in fully, and perhaps remove any unneeded USB devices to test the system.

Unbelieveable! It is the shortcut thing -- thanks so much for the help. It's a new client and it just didn't occur to me to check their styles -- sure enough that was the problem.

Embarrassed ... win some, lose some.

... and it's always the clients who you least expect to use Style Sheets that actually do!

I've never had a client do that before, and I've never used those keys for shortcuts, so I didn't even know it would screw up the keyboard :-)

    Thanks, again!
