I'll try. Let's say that your Word document imports with the following word: español. But when you print you get: espaª∞Nol or something weird like that.
In your Quark XPress document find those instances. Select the character that you know is going to go weird on you and delete it. Then replace it with the appropriate accent.
In the case of the word above, español, the accent over the N is made by pressing OPTN+N, letting go of the keys and then hitting the n key. Add SHIFT in there (when you go to press the letter you need accented) if you need a capitol: Ñ
That's pretty much it. Others: ü (option+u), é (option+e), å (option+a), î (option+i).
