    Hi, Alan,

yes, by using the Interactive layout and creating an SWF slideshow, which you then drag into the web layout and export.

    Hi, Alan,

not sure what you mean with ID?

Anyhow, here's a simple slideshow tutorial, you can go more advanced if you like:

    1. Create an interactive layout that's as large as your pictures.
    2. Put one picture per page.
    3. Go to preferences and in Interactive Layout > Presentation. Check Auto Advance and Loop. Decide for a nice transition if you prefer.
    4. Close. Go to Advanced Layout Properties (menu Layout).Click "Share".
    5. Go to your web layout.
    6. Open Shared Content palette.
    7. Drag Interactive Layout out there into your layout.

Done. Export your Web layout as HTML and enjoy your Flash slideshow.

Sorry I meant interactive designer as ID, should I create it as presentation or image sequence? Thanks, you are the quark guru!

    Re: slide show

    Hi, Alan,

either is fine, the above instructions I wrote for "Presentation".

    Image Sequence is even easier:
    1. Just create it, in the New Layout dialog (or in Layout Properties) adjust the frame rate (2 fps = 1/2 sec per pic)
    2. Add one picture per page.
    3. Go to Web Layout and open Shared Content palette (no sharing necessary as it is on by defult) and drag it in. Also it plays automatically.

I still recommend Presentation as it has two advantages:
    - Transitions between pages possible (fade in, zoom in etc.)
    - You later might want to enrich it (Play/Pause button, text coming from the side) and you can't do that with Image Sequences.

    Thanks

    Re: slide show

    Hi, Alan,

that explains it. There are two possibilities:

    1) You keep everything in one project.
    2) You link external projects to your layout.

There are advantages and disadvantages for either method. I will explain method 1) here:

    - If you create new elements (layouts, buttons, image sequences) DO NOT use File>New, use Layou>New. That adds new layouts to the same project and allows you to share resources and easily access them.
    - If you want to add already existing layouts in a different project to your project, either use method 2) or add the layouts to your project via File>Append.

So please try Layout>Append unless you use the same resources (colors, style sheets) with different definitions in both project.

    Thanks

Holy cow! You are the master! You have saved me days of headaches! I got my slideshow dragged into my web layout, but it is too big, i can't size it in the web layout, it is locked, is there a way to unlock/ resize it or do i have to go back to the interactive layout and resize every pic? Thanks, so much, Alan

    Re: slide show

    Hi, Alan,

unfortunately you cannot resize this within the web layout, you need to modify your Interactive Layout.

    Re: slide show

I downloaded the slideshow2 you did before (in another thread) and put in my pics. I just for the life of me get it into my separate web layout. Each time I go to my quark web pages the shared content box losing the swf file and button_play thing you've set up. Its driving me nutso! H E L P!
