    saving files rather than exporting

    Product: XPress 7.5
    Operating System: 10.0
Description: I am working on a network and have been exported my Quark Documents down To Version 6. for other users on the network to share Each time I try to save I get the message the the file is open for writing so I can't replace the file. Instead I am forced to export and rename the file - thus leaving me with 2 files of the same content but with different names. This causes a little confusion when working with groups. Is there a script that I can get that will allow me to replace the file rather than exporting a new one? Please Help Maralena

Here is the response from quark.

down save the document on your hard drive and then place the file on your network manually in the same folder.

Of course I already knew this, but was looking for a script to streamline production rather than adding another step.

I really like the save as and replace with new feature. There must be a way?

    Maralena,

If you're in a production environment, you're setting yourself up for disaster. There are several issues related with jumping between versions. Text reflow being a major one. Your company needs to pony up for enough of the same version. It will cost them more in lost productivity then the upgrade will.

I doubt you're running 10.0, most likely it's 10.4 or 10.5, I only mention that because, really, evey machine should be set up identical.

Thanks for the User Friendly Advise - But it's a little more complicated than just telling the company to Pony up.

Seems to work ok on all other apps except All of A sudden Quark. In which we never had problems with before.

Probably will just start converting everything to In Design.

    Thanks Anyhow.
