    Switching off H&J's. Help!

Hi all We've been using Quarkxpress for many years now, but have been using QXP8 for a few months and have come across a problem, namely the H&J settings. I remember in QXP6 that you could switch off H&J's globally in the edit preferences section, but we can't find out how to do this in QXP8? Does anybody know how to do this please? Its causing serious and sometimes costly mistakes at print stage. Fingers crossed someone can help... Many thanks from a new forum member. Matt

    Hello,

Please perform the below mentioned steps in order to resolve the issue:-

    • Launch QuarkXPress
    • Go to Edit > H & J's
    • Select one of the H&J setting and click on Edit
    • Uncheck the Auto Hyphenation option.
    • Perform the same steps with all the default H&J's in the list.

    I hope this information helps.

I'm not sure that's what the OP was asking - he wanted to switch off H&Js, not disabled hyphenation...

If you delete all the H&Js you don't want while no document is open, they will not appear in new docs. However, for existing documents you would need to delete them for every document.
