 Hello,

 I have emailed Quark tech support, did heard back asking for my OS and didnt heard back sine then.

 Hopefully someonecan help me here.

 I have tried to install Quarkxpress 5.0 on my new PC which is powered by Intel E8500 core2duo CPU and has 4 GB of RAM.

The program installs fine, but doesnt work as supposed.

I cant even create Master A sheet etc. Its also returning "Out of memory.." message once I try to add a new page to my current Quark document.

The questions i whether if this is a hardware or software incompatibility issue?

OS is Win XP SP3 professional.

Does Quark 5.0 require or anyhow interference with .NET Framework and Java?

Also it could be nice if someone could give me a link to the latest 5.x version of Quark.

 Your problems have been asked here a few times. First off. XPress 5.01 is the latest for your version of XPress. Quark released it shortly after 5.0 to fix quite a few bugs (one of which you are having "Out of Memory, Master Pages error...").

Unfortunately, the link to the update for 5.01 English is blown and Quark hasn't fixed it. There is a link to the Internation English which you could try. One person did and it worked for them. Here it is...LINK

If that fails, email me. I can give you someone's email who might be able to help.

By the fact that you get errors, I assume the program opens. In any case, XPress 5.x was abandoned fairly quickly by Quark. That's probably why you have not heard anything back.

I am getting this message once I run the QuarkXPress 501 Updater.exe

"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing or...".

It should be because of the International English version while I have U.S. English version installed.

You need to update to 5.01. I don't know where it is anymore. In the last two years it's been linked to in three separate places and in each of those it's now gone.
