    Resident Evil

Is it just me or does this forum feel a bit like the Resident Evil films/games? You know its all familiar but no-one about, It's so quiet, makes we worry about the Umbrella corp, err sorry I mean Quark.

Hi Matthias no no no the Sofa is my favourite part of the forum. Actually I was commenting on the quietness of the whole forum, compared to say a couple of years ago. I' don't visit as often as i used to because I'm busier at work (which is a good thing). But has the overall traffic dropped or is it just my perception?

    Hi, Glenn,

do you think so? I haven't counted the posts, for the last months I have always seen dozens of new posts every morning, so for me there hasn't been a noticeable decline.

Well, maybe people use a mix of communication channels now (like YouTube, Facebook etc.) and everybody is twittering? By the way, there's a Twitter of Quark too: http://twitter.com/QuarkXPress

And I am sure, once we launch a new version there'll be much more posts, like ten months ago when we launched of QuarkXPress 8.

    Thanks
    Matthias

It's been quieter than normal. But IMO the largest drop was when we went from phpBB to these new forums. Some people didn't come back and others haven't been as frequent in posting.

    Re: Resident Evil

My game playing is pretty much restricted to Sudoku on Facebook, so I can't relate to the Resident Evil... but it is a bit quiet. I miss the occasional fun threads on Sofa, and some of the 'old faces' have vanished.

    Re: Resident Evil

I must say I have noticed a drop not only here but in several other forums that I pop in to. Perhaps they all got xboxes for xmas and not imacs… I think in the current climate a lot of people are holding back with what they have in the way of software and this means less posts over new features and new problems.

Same, I haven't been as frequent as I have been, due to workload. But every time I visit I go straight to the Sofa. which seems empty these days, I sit and have a coffee and noone come through the doors to say hi... So, Hi? /edit* maybe it due to there not been able to add returns in their posts, I know I have to add the HTML code, but I should have too./edit

    Re: Resident Evil

I would like to believe that any perceived drop in traffic is down to a drop in *negative* traffic. We have been listing to our customers, and addressing issues regularly in the current release, long enough that crash fixers like me are going the way of Bryllcreem salesmen.

    Re: Resident Evil

Hey Graham. You guys are doing an excellent job. I don't think this has anything to do with you guys at all. It's just that IMO a lot of people were used to the ease and functionality of the old phpBB boards. Then they come back to find out it's changed, it's slower, there much less functionality, and oh yeah - you have to re-register.

Matt and Mark have made some very good progress and things are much better now (although I still miss phpBB), but in the initial startup I think we lost a few people.

Absolutely nothing to do with what you guys (the software engineers) are doing, or haven't done for that matter.

I think we lost quite a few members with losing the history of posts the second or third time, is it all backed up now?
