Creating a HTML document for eBay...

    Hi guy

I have happily produced my website using Quark XPress and am pretty happy with the results, and now I'm working on an eBay ad in a virtually identical form, and I've added it to my eBay listing, but it always ends up looking really messed up like the supplied picture.

    Photobucket

This is how it looks when I uploaded it to the internet and how I wanted it to look in the actual eBay listing:

Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? As someone who is very new to Quark, it's probably something ridiculous, but I'd appreciate the help. If anyone needs to look at the code, let me know and I'll post it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.

So does no-one really know what I can do about this? It's kind of urgent. I would really appreciate it. Thanks again Steve.

I can't really tell what's wrong from the image supplied. The part that looks screwed up is the header that eBay furnishes on each page, no?

I've created eBay ads in Quark and they came out fine... Try opening your Quark code in GoLive or a similar, simple HTML program -- that's what eBay will be seeing.

Sorry not to be more helpful...

It occurs to me that your problem may be the links in your original. Ebay, of course, can't accomodate links. You have to submit single page html.

Ok, well nothing seems to be working, i just don't understand it. Might it have anything to do with the fact that it has a background colour...or that the page has a title...it's just strange. If someone in the know could please, please, please, PLEASE go here: http://honeyandthemoon.co.uk/ebay_new/ebay.htm Look at the code in the source editor on your browser and tell me if you spot anything that might be causing this, please let me know. I'm desperate now. Thanks again for your help. Steve.

Re: Creating a HTML document for eBay...

steeeve, I'm not an expert on eBay but I can tell you, as I said before, the code you have with links is not going to work and may be screwing up your page -- eBay won't support links to outside their site. Secondly, your pictures arent going to come across in eBay because they need to be housed in a secondary photosharing site, like Photobucket or perhaps on your server with their URL address, not a local address which you are using now. Of course, that means you will need to change the code for the pictures to reference their URL at the server where you deposit the pictures. In other words, Ebay uses the html code that you supply, but you have to link the photos to a URL outside of ebay. Also, there may be a limit on the width of the eBay page, perhaps the tech folks at eBay can guide you further. Good luck! --Mike
