Cannot Install Quark XPress 7.0 on Vista

I inherited a copy of Quark XPress 7.0 for my school newspaper from the previous editor. They are gone. I have Vista on my computer. I want to install QXP 7.0 and it won't let me because I have Vista. I have tried to change the compatibility and that won't work. I have downloaded the QXP 7.5 updater and it requires that I have the copy installed on my computer (duh!). I have tried to find an installer and I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone have a link to the exact location of the installer or a place where I get more information.

I am at my wits end on this.  So frustrating.

Re: Cannot Install Quark XPress 7.0 on Vista

XPress 7.3 is the first version to run on Vista. 7.31 is the first one certified to run on Vista. As you've discovered the downloads section here only seem to have the updaters. I looked for Trial versions and Quark seems to have remove version 7 trial versions.

Not to worry though. Go here:

This is the Versiontracker download link for the 7.31 installer for Windows. With the installer you can choose to either install a demo, or enter your serial. You'll probably want to enter the serial you have for the version you have already.

    Hope that helps.

When you say serial, do you mean the actual serial number (XWxxxxx....) or the validation code (the long string of letters/numbers)?

If it's the latter, call Quark customer service. They can give you a new validation code based on your serial. I had to do this myself when I originally tried to install my copy of XPress 7 for Mac. The validation code I had was no good so they sent me a good one.

The fastest solution: email our technical support, mention your operating system and your serial number, and ask for the validation code and for the download link of the direct installer of QuarkXpress 7.5. This will allow you to install the latest Xpress 7 version in one single step.

Call Quark and ask. I can't seem to find one anywhere and the Test Drive is apparently no longer on their website.
