Simple question?

How do I change the (apparently random) order that my links appear in the hyperlinks palette? My site will have over a dozen page links and I would like to arrange them in a specific order to make it easier to find and apply.

Hello Mike,

In the hyperlink palette you have a drop-down with the values "Name" and "Link"

If you will select the second option "Link" It will arrange all the hyperlinks in an alphabetical order.

It will make it easier to find for a particular hyperlink from an alphabetical list.

Having them in alpha order does help, but is there not a way to move them up or down according to my specific needs?

I understand your requirement hoverer Quark would not be able to arrange the Hyperlinks according to custom needs.

It can only arrange the links in an alphabetical order.

There could be the third party Xtensions available that can enhance this functionality by allowing it to edit the order of the hyperlinks in the "hyperlink palette"

I'd love to know if there is an Xtension out there that can arrange the hyperlinks order, if anybody has any suggestions, please let us know. For example in the cap below, I would have liked Home to be first.

And as it happens, there are a couple of links that are not in alpha order (note the word Antioch as the last link not the first link). Go figure...

Eventually other odd things started to happen with this doc, like new image files not being saved over old ones (some old images stayed in the image folder, and the new images disappeared from the folder) so I restarted both Quark and the computer (Mac running 10.4) and now the hyperlinks order is correct. There must have been a prefs issue that got washed out in the restart? what do you think...

 Yes it could be corruption within the document with some temporary preferences corruption that has been cleared with a restart

however I would suggest you to repair this project using the steps below and continue working with the repaired document to avoid any corruption or loss of information

1. Create a new project.
2. Choose File > Append.
3. Select the project containing the layout you want to append and then click Open. The Append dialog box displays.
4. In the list on the left, click Layout.
5. Select the layout you want to append in the Available list and then click the right arrow button. The layout is added to the Include list.
6. One by one, select each of the other items in the list on the left, click Include All, and then click the right arrow button.
7. Click OK. The layout is appended and becomes active.
8. To delete the default blank layout, click the Layout 1 tab at the bottom of the project window, then choose Layout > Delete.
9. Save the new project.

Continue with the newly saved project
