    Font sharpness once converted into PDF

    Anyone else have issues with fonts losing their clarity/sharpness once converted into PDF?

    Its a weird one because it doesnt do it throughout the whole document - just sections of text are really bulky (almost bold looking when the font isnt bold), but other parts are fine???

    Really frustrating!

    Wondered if there was something I should be doing in the settings when converting to PDF?

     It could be a flattening issue. In the portions of the document where this is occuring, is your text on top of images, or is it styled with drop shadows or picture effects?

    What version of XPress?

    Hi there,

     I just had a quick look through it and it seems to be quite random (as far as I can see anyway). Perhaps it is when the text is near an image, but the images are very separate to any text. I have a few areas where small amounts of placed in their own small text box (like a break out box) and its perfect in there - it just seems to be the main body of the doc.

     Hmmm. Is this happening on styled fonts? For example, Helvetica <Bold> instead of Helvetica Bold <Plain>?

    No its a plain font - not bold but once its in PDF it looks bold (ish) and just not crisp as it should!

    Are you using any Opacity settings, like to screen back a color or something? It really does sound like there's transparency somewhere, and the type is being rasterized.
