    Guide to Updating

Hi all, I've got this shiny new imac here and de-commissioned my G4 which would only run 6.5. I have just installed Quark 7.01 and that went well, should not have worried so much! Questions are: I have looked at updates and noticed 7.3, 7.31, 7.5 and 8.02 Am I right in assuming that I can update up to 7.5, ? Can I go straight to 7.5 or will I need to update individually in sequence, ? You've probably seen these questions a million times but I haven't seen a post that answers it clearly. Thanks in advance for helping an old man who started out with lead and a composing stick! Those were the days.... Regards Larry

    Re: Guide to Updating

Are you on Leopard? I ask because 7.31 is the first version to be certified to work on Leopard. If you are on Leopard you'll want to find that updater at a minimum. Unfortunately Quark doesn't have that installer on their site anymore. You can find it on Versiontracker.com if you need it. The 7.5 updater can update you in one jump (I think. I started with 7.31). As to 8.02, that's an update for XPress 8.x. You'd need to purchase XPress 8.x before you could apply that update and then it would only apply to XPress 8.x.

    Upgrades (4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 etc...) are not free. Updates (4.11, 6.52, 5.01, etc...) are.

     Hope that helps.

Just to be clear on that. I believe the updater is still on Quark's site (not sure), but I know that the full 7.31 installer is not (I've had to look for it). In any case, you want to update to 7.31 minimum as you are running Leopard.

Thanks again Eric, I've jumped straight to 7.5. Let you know if any issues with that. Regards Larry
