I saw my first feature length 3D film (IceAge3) this weekend and was blown away at how good the effect was. I'm definitely off to see the next two Pixar movies at the cinema and can't wait for the live action stuff to come through.

    Hi, Glenn,

agreed. And especially after movie makers will stop using 3d to shock people (throwing stuff at you), it looks like the 3rd revolution (after tone and color) in film.

Or in football, finally being able to see whether the ball goes to the left or right on TV...

No, but we do have an Imax down at the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe, AZ (about 30 mins from my house). I just wondered if Imax was available in Europe?

Yes, there used to be 12 IMAX in Germany, currently there's just five left.

None in Northern or Western German though. I live in the North. Well, Berlin is 90 min away, I could go there.

    Re: 3D

There is an IMAX at @Bristol which is 40mins from where I live. Its been closed for years but its always being rumored to be re-opening, maybe a glut of 3D could make it profitable again. Spookily enough @Bristol was the location of the last Quark seminar I attended. I've seen quite a few short 3D films on IMAX and was impressed but it seemed technology has moved on a leap. With Ice Age 3D the effect just really worked so well. IMAX has the advantage of filling your field of vision but I always feel that the picture is being blown up so much that it isn't sharp enough to fool you.

Cool Smiley with 3d glasses ?

Well, this is the case of me being the Ugly American again. I just assumed that IMAX was only available here in America. Which is why I was asking. I've never been to an IMAX feature (although now it's close to us). We see the ads for it though on TV and it all looks pretty cool. 3D on IMAX (something I'd not though they were doing) just kind of leaves me drooling.

     Embarrassed

Ah man! You guys too?! I bet you're hiding them! You probably have thousands of IMAX theaters out there all playing next generation 4D movies visible from outer space right? And, and they serve you free food and drinks and pay you to watch too huh? Come on, admit it!
