    Drop Shadows on Text

I have run into a problem with drop shadows that is driving me crazy because I don't know how to fix it beyond not using the feature at all.

Whenever I apply a drop shadow, say to a line of headline text, and if there are other objects around it, the other objects are affected. For example, text because 'thicker', an illustrator graphic has altered colour on the edge closest to the text box, that kind of thing.

    How can I fix this?

Make sure the item with the drop shadow is behind everything else. When a drop shadow is on top of another item, the item below it gets rasterized, which is particularly noticeable on vector elements like type and Illustrator files.

This will help explain what is going on. Its a bit techy but its important to understand the consequences of flattening.
