Layout in Q8. Save to PDF File. Output/margins/layout smaller than original...

I layout a newsletter in QuarkXPress 8. Saved it by exporting to a PDF File/Format. When I printed the newsletter, the body of the newsletter was smaller in dimensions than what I laid out in Quark.

What did I do wrong? Did I not lay it out in a big enough document such that when saved in PDF I'm going to get a smaller than wanted newsletter? Is there a setting I missed. Is there an easy fix? Need the newsletter printed by end of next week. Any help would be appreciated.

     Thanks!

     Hello,

I gather you have printed the PDF to a desktop printer. Acrobat has simply shrunk the PDF to fit the printer default setting

Go File - Print, and you should see the print dialogue window. The first line of this box should say "Printer". The second line should say "Presets".To the right of the "Printer" name are up-down arrows, and to the right of that is a larger down arrow.

Click on that and the window opens up, and one of the options is "Page Scaling", and that may say "Shrink to Printable Area" as a default setting.

As an example, my desktop printer is A4 and an A4 document will print out at 93% by using this default setting.

Simply click on "Page Scaling" and select "None" to get full size.

If your newsletter is going to be sent to a printing company at the end of the week, then you have nothing to worry about.

     Hope that helps.

    Phil

Thanks. Your assumptions were correct. The commands you gave were not exactly the same, or at least it didn't show up the same on my computer, but I was able to see where you were going with it and identified the right commands as you suggested. I think I got it, and I think it will work. If not, can I refer to you again?
