How can we convert or copy pages from an Xpress 6.0 document to a Power Point file?

We have inherited a file that was designed in Quark Xpress 6.0, and we have been tasked with converting it to a Power Point file. We have not been trained on Quark and we have no system documentation.

We did not see any viable Export options.

Next we tried to group the graphic and text items on a page and copy them, but when we opened PowerPoint the Paste function was not enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas how this task can be accomplished? We REALLY don't want to have to recreate the entire document in Power Point from scratch.

You could go to File/Save Page as EPS, then either import the EPS into Power Point (though I don't remember if Power Point will take an EPS), or you could pull the EPS into Photoshop and save it out as a TIFF or JPEG. Unfortunately it's one page at a time with this method.

Thanks for the EPS suggestion. Unfortunately, that approach seemed to group all of the graphics and text on the page into one image. That will make it difficult to edit the page design or text in PowerPoint at a later date. If you can think of anything else, let us know.

You will probably have to rebuild it in Power Point. PP is a slide presentation program. It handles web type images because all you need them for is to show them on a wall or screen. QuarkXPress is a page layout application that handles high resolution images for print.

These apps are two different animals. There's thus, no easy way to do this.

One thing you could try is converting the layout to a web layout (see the Layout menu) and then exporting everthing. That would give you your copy and your images (in web formats). The copy would be in html documents which you could probably copy from a browser and then paste in to PP. No guarantees on how good this will be though.
