Hi All,
New member to this forum - hopefully someone can help me with this problem.
Unfortunately a few weeks ago we were broken into and all our computers were stolen.
As a result we have had to upgrade all our computers, software etc.
All our computers are Intel Macs running OSX 10.5.8 (didn't go to OSX 10.6 after reading so many disaster stories). We are running Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2.0 with QuarkXPress 8.12. The Macs are new and all programs have been freshly installed.
Being that we are in Graphic Design and need to use Helvetica Neue - I have done the work around to get the Postscript Version to work instead of the OX System Helvetica Neue.
The problem I seem to be experiencing though seems only to be happening in QuarkXpress 8.12 - the Adobe CS4 programs seem to run and display the fonts fine.
In QuarkXPress however the fonts seem to be in the drop down list twice.
For Example (lets use Helvetica Neue but it also happens with other fonts) - it will display in the drop down menu "55 Helvetica Roman" then the same font as "Helvetica 55 Roman" in the same list - basically doubling up.
I have checked in the "Usage" area of Quark to make sure that it isn't using two different fonts. It tells me both are exactly the same font.
Is there are way to make it show just one name of the font rather than two in QuarkXpress?
I have written to Extensis and they have told me -
"Suitcase Fusion 2 has no control or influence on how fonts are grouped and displayed in Application's font menus so this is a Quark specific issue.
Activated fonts in Suitcase Fusion 2 are broadcasted to the operating system ( specifically a background process called ATSServer ) then it's down to the application vendor to determine how new fonts get picked up by the application and how the fonts are grouped within their menus."
While it is not a major drama - it is annoying.
Any help would be appreciated.
