Synchrozining text across multiple documents-is there a way???

We design marketing materials that contain licensing text - which changes about every other month. This common licensing is used on hundreds of different pieces of collateral. Is there a way to have the licensing text synchronized from one common licensing document? I really really hope so!

Quark tables can be linked to Excel source documents. I haven't done this myself, so I don't know how well it works. But it might be possible to set up the licensing text in single-cell tables in the various Quark docs, with each table linked to the same Excel document, which is edited as needed.

Here's a quote from one of the Help docs:

"Table data often originates in a spreadsheet program such as Excel, and you can import table data just as you import pictures. Although the technique is slightly different, the results are the same: The table in QuarkXPress is linked to the Excel file for tracking and updating.

If you import a table from Excel using the Link to External Table feature in the Table Properties dialog box, table usage will be tracked just as picture usage is tracked. This ensures that you're notified if the source table changes, and that you have the latest table data when you output the layout, whether you print, collect for output, save as a PDF, or export to HTML. To check the status of a table, choose Utilities > Usage, and then click the Tables tab."

    Hi, Ltonz,
    hi, eply,

I can think of three ways of synchronizing elements across documents:

    1. Linking to XLS (as elpy described)
    2. XML Import
    3. Composition Zones

The first two methods require you to edit content outside XPress and it is hard to synchronize styling. The third method allows you to use XPress, QuarkXPress styling and also to keep your styling consistent across documents.

Choose the one that fits your needs best.

    Best
    Matthias
