PDFs and the position on the page

Not sure which category this problem should come under, or whether it even is a Quark problem (it may be Adobe)

We have two G5 Macs running 10.4.11. Both have Quark 8.12 and both have Distiller 8.1.3 and Acrobat 8.1.7

In thet last few weeks when we create a PDF through Distiller from a Quark doc and send it to a printer (various different printers), the image on the printed page is incorrectly positioned; it comes out half on/half off the page.

But, if I create a PS and then PDF through the old 6.0.2 Distiller and Acrobat, then the image prints in the correct position on the page.

Equally, if we > Export > Layout as PDF > from the Quark doc it prints correctly.

And if we print from eg an Illustrator document there is no problem

This problem never existed until a couple of months ago, but it's definitely due to a recent update in either Q8 or Acrobat/Distiller .
