I am using Mac Quark 7.31 and I can only export my ID layout as a Flash or Mac projector file. My client uses a PC and cant seem to view my .swf file exported as Flash. When I attempt to create the Windows projector file it looks as though it is exporting fine but no file is created. I have tried saving to a new empty folder on my desktop, with no spaces in the file name, with and without the .exe extension added when naming the file. Not sure what is happening. Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

most computers can't open an SWF by itself, as the Adobe Standalone Flash Player is not installed. You cannot download it, you only have it when you have Adobe Flash Applciation or Quark Interactive Designer or QuarkXPress 8 installed.

So you either need to advise your client to drag the SWF into an open Browser Window or you need to create a projector.

I am puzzled as why you do not get a file when creating a projector. You get a Save Dialog right?

Yes, the Save dialog is there. It seems to be exporting, as the Exporter Status window appears and cycles through the pages and then closes when done. But no file appears. I have tried to save to folders, desktop, etc. That is my problem. No file seems to be created. I've restarted Quark as well. FYI: I found a PC app called Flash Movie Player that is a stand-alone app that my client was able to view the .swf file with, but I'd still like to solve my problem.

have you by any chance moved the Standalone Flash Player from its default location '/Applications/QuarkXPress 8/XTensions/ForInteractive' ?

I'm running 7.31, but no, SAFlashPlayer is still in that same location (along with FlashExporter.app and lame_enc.XC.r.dylib

do you use Quark Interactive Designer 1.02?

And, the update to QuarkXPress 7.5 is free of charge.
