    All Caps strange behavior

    Hi,

I have problem with All Caps: I receive different results when I apply All Caps from Measurements palette and through Style > Character. There’s any difference between these two functions or is it a bug?
I am on Windows XP, Quark 8.12.

    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Marek

I'm not getting what you're getting. Here is my text before applying anything:

    ¿¡all - caps!? --- ¿¡all - caps!? ---

…and here's what it looks like in XPressTags (the top one is from the measurments pallet, the bottom is from the Style menu):

    ¿¡all - caps!? --- <Ko("case","cpsp")>¿¡all - caps!?<$o($)> ---
    ¿¡all - caps!? --- <Ko("case","cpsp")>¿¡all - caps!?<$o($)> ---

Since the code is the same, I'd say both places are applying it the same. For me, both the top and bottom look the same. I also tried with a few different fonts of different types, but I'm on Mac OS, and not Windows, so maybe that's something to think about.

    Hi Migman,

    Thank you for your response.

I applied All Caps to this text:

    ¿¡all - caps!?

Here’s what it looks like in XPressTags (the top Measurements palette, the bottom Style > Character)

    <Kf"ArnoPro-Regular"o("case","cpsp")>
    ¿¡all - caps!?
    <o($)>¿¡all - caps!?

    Thanks
    Marek

We are getting slightly different things. It may be because you are on Windows with 8.12, and I'm on Mac OS with 8.02, but I'm can't read tags fluently. The reason I posted about tags was to see if the all-caps from the measurments pallet and Style menu coded differently, which for me, they don't. I also didn't post the whole text file, but I'll post it now.

Can you post another XTags, but have your unstyled text at the beginning of the line, and the applied style after, like in my example? I'm not sure if our tags are supposed to look the same or not, but if we compare oranges to oranges, it might be more clear. Here's another XTags from me. This time, I have three blank paragraph returns at the top of the text box, and a blank return between the two examples. I also named my paragraph style Elvis just so it stands out. You can see the line that starts with @Elvis: is blank (that's the first blank line in the paragraph). The all-caps are applied locally (not with a character style).

    Hi Migman,
so I imported your XTags and applied All Caps (the top Style > Character, the bottom Measurements palette) and below you can see what I got.
Our results are different; it seems a bug on Windows.

With any luck, someone who can read tags will see this thread and offer some help.
