    Always modified after opening?

Every time I open a document, regardless of whether I had just saved it recently or not, Quark displays the dot in the Close dot as if it's been modified. I often open docs to glance over them and want to be able to close without a dialog box saying This Document has been Modified. I've tried turning off every XTension and continue to have this problem. I'm running Q7.5 on Leopard.

We have the same problem (also in QXP 8) and in our situation it's caused by fonts being activated automatically (we use the FontExplorer XTension). Closing the document and then opening and closing it a second time, we don't get the dialog box. If you want to glance over documents, why not use Quick Look Filter for QuarkXpress (http://labs.quark.com/projectdetail.aspx?did=24)? It's not perfect, but for our use quite adequate. Select the file in the Finder and use the spacebar.

I just switched to Suitcase Fusion 2 and even with all of the documents fonts active I still have to deal with a dialog box when closing, regardless if any modifications have been made. I also use Quicklook to view them but their implementation of that even annoys me. It shows the entire pasteboard, which I don't really need to see, and the thumbnail is always small upon the first launch of a preview.

I know this is very old thread, but I found it because I had the same problem. In my case it was due to an image, I had applied to it high resolution preview (via the contextual menu... just to explain better :-) Putting it back to low resolution preview the problem is gone. Hope this helps. Ciao!
