    Installation

Can I install the Test Drive a second time?
No, you can't. So if something doesn't work as expected, please DO NOT TRASH the Test Drive and try to reinstall. Please contact our technical support instead: http://support.quark.com/contact_us.html

There is one exception: You can install the Test Drive of QuarkXPress 9.1 (includes App Studio) even if you had installed a Test Drive of QuarkXPress 9 before.

    Opening & Saving

Can I downsave from QuarkXPress 9 to QuarkXPress 8?
Yes, QuarkXPress can downsave one version, so QuarkXPress 9 can downsave to 8. You find it under the "File > Export > Layouts as Projects…" menu.

Can QuarkXPress 9 open documents from previous versions of QuarkXPress?
Yes, QuarkXPress 9 opens any document from versions 3.1 (and higher), 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, regardless of language or platform.

Can QuarkXPress 9 open InDesign files?
Not directly, no. However there's a 3rd party tool available that promises to do this. Please see here: http://www.markzware.com/id2q/

    Test Drive

What are the restrictions of the Test Drive?
There are no restrictions, the Test Drive works like a commercial version. The only thing to remember is the 30-day time limit, when QuarkXPress 9 Test Drive will stop to function.

After the Test Drive expired, can I reinstall the Test Drive again?
No, you can only install it once and test it for 30 days for free.

Do I need to reinstall QuarkXPress 9 after I purchased a license?
You can just enter the validation code and the Test Drive will convert to a production version, there's no need for a reinstall.

    Licensing

When I buy a license of QuarkXPress 9 do I need to decide whether to buy for Mac OS X or Windows?
No, licenses of QuarkXPress 7, 8 and 9 are platform-independent, so you can install the same license on Mac OS X and/or Windows.

How many times can I install one license of QuarkXPress 9?
You can activate QuarkXPress 9 on two computers, regardless of platform; so on two Macs or on two PCs or one Mac & one PC. Your EULA allows you to use both installations (just not simultaneously).
That's handy, if you use QuarkXPress 9 on a desktop machine and on a laptop. Or want to use it at home and at work.

I am a student or a teacher, are there special prices for educational customers available?
Yes, there are rebated versions available for students, teachers and even school-packs for universites.
