I have created a source color profile for Quark 7.5 on a Windows machine, running XP Pro. I have encountered a couple Quark documents when opened and you examine the source color profiles, the custom source profile I created is missing. Only the two preinstalled source color profiles show. Why is my custom profile missing? I thought both the Source and Output color profiles were not file specific? I assume these three documents carry with them some preference that removes my custom profile? It's very odd. 

If you created this source profile AFTER these documents had been created, when reopened these documents would still retain the settings they were originally saved with. You'll need to make the profile changes with these documents open and resave them.

Any documents created AFTER you created this profile and applied it to the Color Management settings will reflect these settings.

There are slight differences in preferences when you have documents open and when you have no documents open. 

Application Preferences: Preferences that you apply to the application while no documents are open. Documents created after that point will have your changes reflected on them. Documents created BEFORE that point will not.

Document Preferences. Preferences that were applied BEFORE you made changes and WHILE these documents were open and then saved. These are retained with the document UNTIL you change them even though you may have made changes to the Application Preferences.
