Table Of Contents and xpress tags

I have a database solution that exports a text file with xpress Tags. It even builds a Table Of Contents for me. However, the TOC does not contain the page numbers. They have always been added by hand after the pages are flowed correctly. The catalog and number of items listed in the TOC are getting too large to do this by hand.

Is there a way I can add tags to automatically find the page numbers for items in my document? Here is the catch, the way items are listed are not the exact same way they are in the body of the document.

Here is a small example. In the TOC I would have a vehicle listed as "EX 400 RFVC (99-08) 4v". In the body of the document, the same vehicle is listed as "Honda EX 400 (99-08)".

I know if there are exactly the same, I could use a style and the list builder to do this. However, the way the catalog is built, I can not have them the same.

I thought I read somewhere mention of being able to do this with data between some tags that would be invisible...

    Any help?

    Thanks
    Shawn
