embedding email links in to pdf from quark 6.1

does anyone know how to embed an email address in to quark document so that when pdf'd, you can click and be taken directly to email that person listed? html seems to work fine using links, but email addresses seem to change characters and corrupt the link. When email addresses are on one line, they are fine, but if they go to a new line (with no added spaces or hyphenation inserted) the same happens. Can anyone advise please?

Here is the process to have e-mail addresses setup in Qaurk PDF's.

    1. Window -> Hyperlinks. Create a new hyperlink (with any name), set it to "Type= URL" and enter "URL= mailto:e-mail@example.com".

    2. Select the text you want to link and apply the hyperlink created above.

    3. Export as PDF.

I have not seen people using e-mail addresses that break at the end of line, why would you do that?

You said that the characters and links are corrupted, could you please mention what changed aftr export?

Sarbjit Many thanks. I followed your instructions and it worked. I had not entered 'mailto:' before the email links, now I have and they work. I'm working on a 3 column grid with lots of space around each persons details/photo etc. Visually it worked well to have the addresses split 'forename.surname' on top line, with '@company.co.uk' below. This was originally intended for a printed document so had no need for continuous text, however the client has requested that pdf's uploaded to their website have hyperlinks throughout. thanks again for your advice Rachel

Great, please rember that hyperlinks will work better if we use HTML valid links. All likes should start with the protocol like "http://", "https://", "ftp://", "mailto:" etc.

Avoid using links like "www.xyz.com", format it as "http://www.xyz.com". You can always change the text that is being displayed and yet have a correct URL at the backend.

It seems that you have applied the hyperlink to a large box on the page. Please make sure that the hyperlink is applied to the text and not its parent text box.

thanks for the reply. i gave up and just sent it out w/out the link. i had not applied the hypelink to a large box, only a small text box w/the e-mail address. any other suggestions as a need to send out a new pdf and would like the hyperlink to my e-mail address?

I just tried again and this is what happened:  I attached the pdf in an email and when i open the pdf in the email and try to click on URL, the entire page highlights, but if i open the pdf in adobe acrobat and click on URL it works. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
